

My Wellness Journey: From Rock Bottom to
Personal Trainer
My weight loss, wellness journey started back in May 2022. At the time I was in a very bad place both mentally and physically. Being severely overweight, binge drinking every weekend and just not looking after myself at all. I got to the point mentally where something had to change, so I got myself a gym membership.
When I first stepped foot in the gym I felt so overwhelmed and was completely unsure where to start! For the first couple months I would do a twenty minute jog on the treadmill followed by using a few resistance machines which I felt comfortable using, I did this two to three times a week. I remember looking around constantly, always thinking everyone was judging me and could tell I didn't know what I was doing! Knowing what I know now I wish I could go back and tell myself no one is watching me and to just focus on myself.
After a couple months of consistently jogging and some strength training I realised I had started to lose weight! I was also in a calorie deficit which worked for my weight at the time as well as the training I was doing. At this point I felt more motivated than I had done in years, which made me want to expand my training and try new things. In September of 2023 I had moved to a different gym which I could walk to from my flat, at this stage I was going six days a week and consistently learning new ways of training as well as being at a stage where I was happy with my weight. This was when I realised I wanted to start getting stronger and build muscle!
I completely fell in love with weight training and the way it made me feel. I was the happiest I had been in years and it felt amazing to finally have a good relationship with food and exercise. My twenty minute jogs on the treadmill a couple times a week turned into running being my main passion. I began running 10Ks a few times a week as well as doing my first ever half marathon, which was so hard but I loved it! It was then that I realised how much I had strengthened my mind and how putting myself through consistent pain had made me grow as a person.

In January of 2024 was when I decided I wanted to get my personal training qualification. My training had become the best part of my life and that was when I knew I wanted to help others too. I then qualified as a Fitness Instructor in August 2024 and then a Level 3 Personal Trainer in March 2025. My goal is now to help others achieve the same kind of transformation both physically and mentally and show people no matter what your starting point is, you can achieve so much more than you ever thought possible if you really want it.
